Our Product
Swan is a customer engagement platform helping enterprises drive personalized, data-driven engagement at scale. We work with customers across the Middle East (GCC) and are expanding into new geographies. Our platform is multi-tenant, cloud-native, and heavily data-driven, handling sensitive customer engagement and demographic data. We are fully deployed on Microsoft Azure and are ISO 27001 certified.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Developer with 3–5 years of experience to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with the MERN stack, excellent logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities, and the ability to independently design, develop, debug, and deliver high-quality software.
The role requires someone who can think critically, make sound technical decisions, take ownership of development tasks, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The position is office-based, and in-person interview rounds are mandatory for shortlisted candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable web applications using the MERN stack.
- Build and maintain robust frontend applications using React.js.
- Develop efficient backend services and APIs using Node.js and Express.js.
- Work with MongoDB, including database design, queries, and performance optimization.
- Translate business and technical requirements into reliable and scalable solutions.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues.
- Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-tested code.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to coding standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with product, design, QA, and other stakeholders to deliver projects on time.
- Take ownership of assigned modules/features from development through deployment.
- Contribute to technical discussions, architecture decisions, and continuous improvement of development processes.
- Mentor or support junior developers when required.
Must-Have Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years of relevant software development experience.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of the MERN stack – MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js.
- Strong understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, ES6+ concepts, and asynchronous programming.
- Good understanding of REST APIs, API integration, authentication, and backend development.
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and responsive web development.
- Experience with Git/version control and standard software development practices.
- Strong logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to approach unfamiliar problems, break them down logically, and arrive at effective solutions.
- Good understanding of debugging, performance optimization, and writing maintainable code.
- Ability to independently own tasks and deliver within timelines.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
Good-to-Have
- Experience with TypeScript.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS/Azure/GCP.
- Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with testing frameworks and automated testing.
- Understanding of system design and application architecture.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Knowledge of Redis, message queues, or other performance/scalability tools.
- Experience mentoring junior developers or taking technical ownership of a module.
